Blackhills Entry 6: Onwards
These fourteen days at Blackhills have been integral to helping me define a way of working that resonates and feels true to me. I finished my time at Blackhills just one day before lockdown started in the U.K. Instead of running with the ideas swirling in my head, I’ve had to step back and pause. I fought this initially and started making pots as soon as I got home, despite having nowhere to fire them. I kept going on like usual, trying to move forwards, not accepting that the world is currently a very different place. I’m realizing that this is a time for stillness and I’ve been using it to reflect on my experience at Blackhills and on how to get to where I want to be:
Intention
Spontaneity
Quiet
Physical
Methodical
Careful
Expressive
Self-reliance
Community
Place
Provenance
A profound thanks to John and Steph for welcoming me to Blackhills - where the space, work, and collaboration helped me to realize so much about where I’m going.
